The Directorate General of Immigration has officially reinstated the multiple entry visit visa service, allowing foreigners to enter Indonesia multiple times within a year without reapplying for a return visa. This change is outlined in Circular Letter No. IMI-0783.GR.01.01 of 2022, issued on November 28, 2022.
The Multiple Entry Visit Visa (VKBP) is designed to support foreign business professionals and investors traveling to Indonesia. Initially reintroduced post-pandemic in November 2022, the visa was first tested on Singapore citizens and permanent residents. During this phase, multiple entry visa holders could only enter and exit Indonesia through Immigration Checkpoints (TPI) in the Riau Islands but were free to travel throughout Indonesia once admitted.
On February 24, 2023, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, through the Directorate General of Immigration, issued Circular Letter No. IMI-0072.GR.01.01 of 2023. This new regulation, effective February 25, 2023, revoked the previous circular specific to business travel in the Batam and Bintan areas during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A multiple entry visit visa allows the holder to enter and leave Indonesia multiple times within the visa's validity period without reapplying for entry each time.
