The Ministry of Labor in Taiwan has officially announced an increase in the minimum wage, set to take effect on January 1, 2024. This adjustment aims to enhance the economic well-being of workers and reflects the government’s commitment to improving labor standards across the nation.
The minimum monthly wage has been increased to NT$28,590, providing a better baseline for employees’ earnings and improving financial stability for workers nationwide.
The hourly minimum wage has been set at NT$190, ensuring part-time and temporary workers receive fair compensation for their contributions.
This adjustment is grounded in Article 13, Paragraph 1 of the Minimum Wage Law, which empowers the Ministry of Labor to periodically review and update the minimum wage to reflect current economic conditions.
The official announcement, Labor Article 2 No. 1130148668, was issued on September 19, 2013, by Minister He Peishan. It underscores the government’s proactive measures to address economic challenges and promote equitable wage practices.
The new minimum wage policy reflects Taiwan's ongoing commitment to fostering a fair and supportive labor market. For more details, visit the official government gazette at Taiwan Gazette Website.
