An exit permit is a legal document required by foreign nationals who wish to leave Pakistan but no longer hold a valid visa. This situation typically arises when a visa has expired, been rejected, or canceled. The exit permit enables travelers to depart the country lawfully despite an invalid visa status.
Who Can Apply?
Foreign nationals from any of the 192 eligible countries may apply for an exit permit under the following circumstances:
- Their visa application has been rejected
- Their visa has been canceled by authorities
- Their visa has expired
This applies to:
- All foreign nationals
- Foreign nationals of Pakistani origin
Required Documents
To apply for an exit permit, the following documents must be submitted:
- Valid passport
- Recent passport-sized photograph
- Copy of the most recent Pakistani visa
- Proof of entry into Pakistan
- Visa rejection or cancellation letter (if applicable)
Validity of the exit permit
Once approved, the exit permit remains valid for 15 days. During this period, the applicant must exit Pakistan. It is important to ensure travel arrangements are made within this timeframe to avoid further complications.
Processing Time
exit permits are issued at the discretion of the Government of Pakistan. Typically, the process takes between 48 to 72 hours.
