If you're planning to work in Pakistan as a foreign national, it's important to understand the work visa process. The Government of Pakistan offers different types of work visas for eligible individuals who have secured employment in the country. This guide provides an overview of the visa types, eligibility criteria, required documents, and processing details to help you through the application process.
Overview of Pakistan Work Visas
Foreign professionals can apply for a work visa through Pakistan’s official E-Visa portal. Employers in Pakistan are responsible for submitting the work visa applications on behalf of expatriate employees. Applications must be submitted online via https://visa.nadra.gov.pk/work-general-visa.
Types of Work Visa Applications
There are two main types of work visa applications available:
New Entry Visa: For individuals who do not currently hold a valid visa for Pakistan.
Visa Extension: For individuals already residing in Pakistan with a valid visa, who wish to extend their stay.
Who Can Apply?
Foreign nationals who have received a valid job offer from a company registered in Pakistan and meet the application criteria are eligible to apply. The sponsoring company must be properly registered and provide the required documentation.
Required Documents for Work Visa Application

These documents should be uploaded under the “Other” category as supporting documentation
Visa Duration and Validity
Both entry and extension visas are typically granted for two years with multiple entries permitted.
For extension requests, applicants must already be residing in Pakistan with a valid visa.
Processing Timeline
The standard processing time for both new and extension applications is approximately 4 weeks.
The final decision to issue the visa rests with the Government of Pakistan.
If an application is returned for corrections or additional information, the 4-week processing time will reset upon resubmission.
Applicants must resubmit within seven days of being notified, or the application will be automatically canceled.
