Understanding the Taiwan Employment Gold Card
The Taiwan Employment Gold Card, launched in 2018, is a versatile program designed for professionals looking to live and work in Taiwan. This all-in-one card streamlines the process of relocating, offering four essential functions:
- Work Permit: Enjoy complete freedom to seek employment, switch jobs, and work part-time without additional permissions.
- Resident Visa: Stay in Taiwan for more than 180 days with ease.
- Alien Resident Certificate (ARC): Obtain a physical ID that verifies your legal residency in Taiwan.
- Re-entry Permit: Travel in and out of Taiwan without restrictions, even during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic.
The card is valid for 1 to 3 years, with the application process entirely online. This eliminates the need for an employer's sponsorship, making it a convenient choice for global professionals. Processing typically takes 30 days, but applications requiring extra documentation may take up to 50-60 days. Costs depend on the applicant’s nationality and chosen duration of the card.
