Employment Visa Indonesia

Are you considering working in Indonesia but unsure about the visa requirements? Let's simplify things for you. When it comes to legally working in Indonesia, there are primarily two types of visas for foreigners: KITAS (Limited Stay Permit) and KITAP (Permanent Stay Permit). Here's what you need to know:

KITAS (Limited Stay Permit)

1. Validity:

Stay for 6 months to 1 year, extendable up to 6 consecutive years.

2. Eligibility:

Experts (TKA), general positions, Directors/Commissioners non-shareholders of the company, or Directors/Commissioners share ownership under IDR 1,000,000,000.

3. Documents Required:

Various documents including manpower report, eligibility results, and e-Visa.

4. Processing Time:

Typically around 1 month.

Types of KITAS

1. Working Stay Permit:

For general positions or company directors.

2. Investor Stay Permit:

For board members/shareholders or investors.

3. Student Stay Permit:

For students pursuing studies in Indonesia.

4. Family Union & Dependent Stay Permit:

For spouses or dependents of KITAS holders.

5. Retirement Stay Permit:

For retirees aged 55 and above.

6. Repatriation/Ex-Indonesia Citizen Stay Permit:

For former Indonesian citizens.

Notes: KITAS cannot be used for employment purposes.

KITAP (Permanent Stay Permit)

1. Validity:

Initially for 5 years, extendable to permanent stay.

2. Eligibility:

Holders of various KITAS categories, including work, investment, retirement, and more.

3. Documents Required:

Approval from relevant agencies, MERP, and personal identification documents.

4. Processing Time:

Approximately 1.5 to 2 months.

Notes: KITAP holders enjoy long-term residency in Indonesia.

In conclusion, understanding the distinction between KITAS and KITAP is crucial for foreigners planning to work or reside in Indonesia. Ensure you have the correct visa type aligned with your purpose of stay to avoid any legal issues.
