The standard working week for Ecuadorian employees is 40 hours, 5 days. Hours worked in excess of 40 hours shall be considered overtime and shall be paid at 150% of the normal rate (200% on public holidays).
After five years of service to the employer in Ecuador, the employee is entitled to 15 days of paid annual leave. This allowance increases by one day for each additional year of service, up to a maximum of 30 days.
Employees in Ecuador are generally entitled to up to two months of paid sick leave. This leave must be compensated at 50% or more of regular wages.
Female employees in Ecuador are entitled to 12 weeks of paid maternity leave. 75% of their usual wages are borne by the state social security, and the remaining 25% is borne by the employer.
